luc asked:
Hypothetically, a friend of mine would like to buy a bottle of wine online with his credit or debit card. If he does so, will the company he buys from know he is not 21 by his credit card information? Will he be able to buy the wine?

This is an interesting question, I really don’t know the answer but I am assuming that it would not. Try it out and if it does not work you’ll know why.

The delivery guy will ask for I.D.

you have to initial, or check a box, or electronically sign something that says you are 21 at the end of your order on most sites that sell alcohol. So technically he could do that, and be lying about it, and it’s very likely he wouldn’t get caught…but there’s always the slight..very slight chance that he will. My advice .. find a friend that is 21 and get them to buy a bottle of wine.

Order yes. Receive probably not. The courier is supposed to check ID before he lets someone sign for the package.

No, my roommate has been buying absinthe online for the past 2 years now and he is still 20. Generally the site will just ask you to “confirm” that you are above 21 by clicking a box or something.
