I have a US credit card but will be travelling abroad for a long time. I would like to use my credit card over there for online transactions mostly. Will I incur international fees/charges by doing this?

First you need to inform your credit card company that you will use the card abroad. Otherwise, it might not work

Unfortunately, credit card companies tack on additional fees such as conversion fees for cards used abroad. But if it is an online transaction and the transaction is in dollars, then you’ll have no problems. The fees kick in if you use foreign currency.

The best approach is to call your credit card and ask them fees that you might incur

I recently(12-10-07) traveled to Mexico and used my credit card while i was there. When i used it for paying on the internet i went through paypal and was not charged and fees or charges. However i was charged 1% of the total amount when i physically swiped it to pay for something. If you call your card company they can probably give you a quick answer. Good luck and enjoy your trip! =)

You get the extra charges for foreign currency purchases. If you use it abraod, but are billed from a US dollar web site, it’s no different from doing it in the US.
