Pay my credit card bill online as opposed to sending it in the mail?

I was wondering, If I pay my credit card bill online, do they get it faster then if I were to send it in the mail? Whenever I send a bill I always have to send it at least a week a head of time but If I pay it online, can I do it up to two days before the due date?

I pay my credit card bills via my company’s web site. It does get applied to your account faster than sending it via mail because there is no waiting for the mail to be delivered to the company. My payments are usually processed within 1-2 business days.

yes. if you use their website it is usually processed immediately, but sometimes it takes up to 2 days – never longer. Its also safe and secure.

Most companies will allow you to schedule the payment up until the day before it is due. (If you wait until the due date, some will make you pay an additional fee.) If you go directly to the credit card site and schedule a payment, they will deduct it electronically from your bank account on the day you select and post it to your account the same day. If you choose online bill pay through your bank, often, your bank will deduct the money from your account, produce a paper check, and mail it to your credit card company. The most efficient way to keep the money in YOUR account until the credit card company receives it is so pay the cc company directly via their website.
I like to pay online because I can pick the exact date for the payment and can check to make sure the payment came out when it was supposed to instead of waiting to see if a check cleared the bank. My habit is to schedule at least a minimum payment as soon as I receive the bill so I’m covered if I misplace the statement.
What I do to try to pay it down faster is make multiple small payments during the month to minimize the interest charges. Instead of waiting until the due date to make one big payment, I make a smaller payment with each payday. Paying online allows me to do this easily and provides a clear record of the payments. Credit card interest is compounded daily. Adding a few days of mailing time to each month’s payment could add to your overall bill in the long run.

The mail can be variable. One first class envelope took 11 days to get from our California factory to our Illinois office. Another was miscoded by the post office and went to zipcode 06120 before bouncing back from the east coast to 60120.
If I pay a Chase CC from my Chase checking before 7 PM, it goes same day. Other cards take 2 days. WaMu says to allow 5 days in case they have to mail payments, but credit card payments actually happen faster.
Just beware of due dates that fall on weekends when they cannot possibly be paid. The credit card companies do that to try to trip you up with late fees if you wait too long to make a payment. So allow business days.

Yes, paying online is a lot faster. I do it for all my credit cards…its so much easier not having to send the check in the mail.
My online payments always go through by the next business day. Plus, you can track all your purchases and interest rates, etc…throughout the month to make sure everything is accurate.
