I realize the British banking system is unlike from our Canadian one, but – I can specify any amount online if I choose ‘Pay bills’ – there are no set minimums here.When you do pop in to the bank that’s a good question to enquire them! Also, check if you can also add utility bill accounted to be paid online as good (electric, phone, telly)

The number is typically between 6 andXdigits long.     The customer will usually have a plan name which typically will be shown on the bill – If this name is not displayed it may be worth customer ringing their gas or electricity supplier to find out why and clarify the plan which the customer is on.      A detailed breakdown of the energy the customer has used will be shown on the bill. The usage is provided, including the kilowatt hours (kWh) used, the cost per kilowatt hour and the latest meter readings. The bill will also show the customer if the meter readings are estimated or actual and the dates the readings were taken or estimated.     A contact number will be provided on the bill for customers who have specific requirements such as large print or bills in braille.      A payment slip will be on or with the bill for customers who chose to pay their bill at the bank or by post.

The bill summary should show:-
The bill summary shows the client the total of your last bill, how much was paid since the last bill, the charges the client incurred for the period of time including any discounts the client is applicable for. The bill will also show any account adjustments.

The summary will also show the customer the overall amount of debit or credit that their account is in. This will only be for information only for Direct Debit customer. The summary will also show the date the charged should be paid by.

Details may also be show of how long each title of payment will take for the payment to be received and shown on their billing system for example – Payment by debit card can take between 0-3 days (depending on the day of the week you pay), Post Office 3-5 days, through the post 7-10 days, telephone or PC banking 3 days, at the bank or building society 7 days.

I applied for a credit card, but my application was declined with no reason give. I assume they have searched a credit agency. What will this have done to my credit file and will it affect any future applications?

It doesn’t hurt you. Having many creditors accept you can help you but denials do not hurt you. If you have 50+ requests (whehter they are denied or accepted) it may knock you dont a few points (possibly 10) but that is only if you credit is already bad, because it is just adding to your ‘history of bad usage’

The fact of the matter is that if you’re careful about where you shop and who you trust your credit teasing info with, shopping with your credit card online is just as safe as shopping with it in a brick and mortar store. When you do use your attribute card online, make certainly that you only use it on secure sit. You can tell if a site is secure by looking at the URL address. If it starts with https:// instead of http://, the site is secure. Even if your credit card information should fall into the wrong hands, most credit card companies have fraud protection policies which limit your liability to pay for fraudulent charges. If charges that you didnt authorize appear on your credit card statement, you can call your credit card company and dispute the charge. I recommend IE 7.0 and above as it checks for Phishing.
