What is a good online credit card merchant solution for my small business?

Question by Joe C: What is a good online credit card merchant solution for my small business?
I rent items and want to be able to put a “security hold” on their credit card like a hotel does in case they break the items. It would be nice to also have the same service be able to accept credit card payments to be able to charge their rentals.
