A question about credit card (Discover) online payments?

Hi, I am wondering how long does it takes to processed an online payment made to discover. I made the payment on the 27th the due date is 28th, which is right now, through a check. If they haven’t received it by today will my payment be considered late?

According to their website, if you made a payment after 5pm (Eastern Standard Time), they will process it the next business day. So if you paid on Jan 27, then the payment should of been processed already. If you paid on Jan 28 after 5pm, they may charge a late fee. It says “may”, which I don’t quite understand. Its like “are they or are they not going to charge a late fee?”
Anyway, I setup an automatic payment where the balance gets paid in full every month. I refuse to pay any interest on my credit card. Maybe you should do the same. Of course, you want to make sure you have enough money in your checking account to cover it.
