Posted on July 26th, 2010 No commentsLandon McGehee asked:
There is without any doubt or question accepting credit cards is an absolute necessity online if you intend to run an online business; we take it for granted but a great deal relies on this now. You can’t run an online business by taking checks or money orders; delays in processing the order will make it an nonviable proposition. No-one likes to wait on the Internet otherwise they would shop in a mall; caring about what your customers want is the key to success.
You need to a system to take a payment instantly to get your product or service out the door as soon as your customer orders it. Any professional company that has an e-commerce website will make sure that every type of payment system is in place including the ability to accept credit cards online; these sites aim to please their customers by accepting payment at any time of the day. If you don’t take payments this way then you should inquire about having the option of online payments available as soon as you can.
There are now quite a number of methods of accepting credit cards online; this decision is often based on how much a company is willing to spend to run it. Because it is possible to use more than one method to accept credit cards online, many larger internet businesses use more than one system to attract additional customers.
Using Paypal
Often the traditional systems of accepting card payments can be expensive and out of the reach of many small internet businesses; however, a good alternative is to use Paypal to accept your credit card payments. The rise in the popularity of Paypal is partially due to eBay who purchased the company. It is slowly overtime becoming the payment system of choice for many.
All that is needed is a Paypal account to be created which is simple to use; many internet users prefer to use this system over others. The only way to keep customers is by supplying a safe online payment service for them to purchase your products or service; by ensuring your site is secure, your sales will increase and less potential customers will leave.
There is no need to apply for pay with a credit card by mail.
This means that the transaction is encrypted so that their information is not broadcast around the Internet for those who may take those numbers for their own use. Any website that accepts credit cards online will be a secure site with the first letters of the website address being https://, This provides peace of mind to the user, so if you do not have this facility your customers will go elsewhere. With internet fraud being one of the top concerns on the internet it is your responsibility to make your customers feel safe and secure when they place an order otherwise they will leave and order elsewhere.

Online Credit Card Management: Is It Safe?
Posted on June 14th, 2009 No commentsEd Vegliante asked:
In today’s world, you can manage almost every aspect of your credit cards online. While it is convenient to shop and pay bills over the Internet, you may be concerned about the security risks involved. The good news is that you can reduce your risks by taking preventative action. Follow these tips to make sure your online credit card management is safe.
Applying Online
Many websites allow you to apply online for a credit card. If you’re concerned about sending personal information into cyberspace, chances are you need not worry. In most cases, online applications are just as safe, if not safer, than sending forms through the regular mail system. When you drop an application in the mailbox, your personal information is exposed to numerous potential scammers. The process may take four to six weeks to complete, thereby creating more possibilities for others to see your data. If you send an application through an online connection, however, it will arrive in less than a second to the secured source. When applying online, first check that the site is secure and legitimate; then fill out the application.
Shopping Online
Before purchasing an item online, take a few measures to check for security. First, make sure that the company is legitimate. If you are in doubt, you can check with the Better Business Bureau. Next, look for security features on the site. If the payment page has the letter “s” after its “http” code (https:), it is protected with SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer. This applies encryption between your computer system and the company’s Internet server. When your data is transmitted over the Internet, it is encrypted, or scrambled, when it is sent. It is then unscrambled when it reaches its destination. Another safety feature to look for is a small padlock on the screen. Finally, make sure you feel comfortable providing your information. If something on the site concerns you, check into it before paying with your credit card.
Online Statements and Billing
Almost all credit card companies allow you to sign up for online access to your credit card account. When you do, make sure that the site has secure features. Be careful not to use a login name or password that contains obvious personal information, such as your name or date of birth. Check your card activity and online statements regularly for signs of transactions that you did not authorize.
Phishing
By far, phishing is one of the most dangerous fraudulent activities online. In phishing, scammers send e-mails that appear to be from legitimate companies. They often ask you to respond with personal information to confirm an account or win a prize. Be sure to check your e-mail carefully. A credit card company will never ask you to send personal information, such as your social security number, to them via e-mail. If you receive a questionable e-mail, do not respond to it or open any attachments it contains. Rather, report it to the credit card company or a credit bureau for inspection.
Like other security issues, online credit card management can be safe if proper measures are taken. Check sites for security features, look into online companies before making purchases, and avoid responding to questionable e-mails. By following these steps, you can enjoy the ease of online credit card management without the headache of credit card fraud.

Getting Online Credit Cards Can Be Easy
Posted on May 4th, 2009 No commentsNick Makaryk asked:
If you’ve surfed online, you’ve probably run into a number of different credit card companies, each offering what they claim are the best rates on interest, and the lowest fees. Many credit card companies operate online and in the real world, allowing you to apply for a card directly through the company’s website. While some people understand how this process works, many others don’t.
Many online companies can process your application within a few minutes, or nearly instantly. Of course, that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to go shopping right away. Technology won’t yet let us print out a credit card and take it with us. You’ll have to wait until your new credit card arrives in the mail to use it for new purchases.
While the application is almost instantaneous, you’ll still need to wait for your new card. Credit cards typically come in the mail, but most cards arrive in a few days. Choosing an online application does shorten the process, however. You’ll know right away if you’ve been approved. You may have to wait on your credit card, but it won’t take as long as an old fashioned application.
When comparing the online method of applying for a credit card with a more traditional one, you’ll see major differences right away. The first one is time. It can take a long time to fill out an application on paper, mail it to the company, and get a response back. Snail mail seems to take forever when you’re waiting, and if there are problems with processing, wait time may be long.
Traditional credit card applications don’t let you compare what other companies are offering, either. If you’ve decided to apply for your card online, you’ll be able to look at a number of different companies and find the perfect deal for your budget. You’ll also be able to know without doubt that you’ve got the right card. There are hundreds of cards available online. Just find the one that’s best for you and fill out an application.
Of course, while applying online is an excellent way to get a credit card, instant approval does have its limitations. Online credit cards are mostly meant for people who already have good credit scores. However, those who don’t have perfect credit may still be able to get online approval. The market is extremely competitive, and some companies will approve you despite your score, because they’re looking for the business. Many online companies want your business, and are willing to approve people with lower scores than is ideal.
If you’re looking for a credit card, take your search online. You’ll find plenty of options available to pick from. Credit card companies are easy to find online, and there are more there than offline. Getting approved is easier than it’s ever been. Just fill out an application and wait a few moments for a response. If you’re lucky, you’ll be approved. Then, just wait for your card to arrive and go shopping!
